Keowee Key is home to dozens of world-class amenities, but there are also many things to do just outside of the community. Within a half-hour drive, residents can:
See a Play or Concert
For a night on the town, the Brooks Center at Clemson University is an excellent place to see a play or musical. It also offers concerts, ranging from the Clemson Symphony Orchestra to various local bands and musicians. It even offers free shows occasionally.
View the State Botanical Gardens
Clemson University is also home to the South Carolina Botanical Garden. There, you can walk amongst the beautiful gardens, take classes, visit the Bob Campbell Geology Museum, explore the nature trails, and watch demonstrations. Two historic homes are also located within the gardens.
Watch a College Sporting Event
Clemson University is also home to Memorial Stadium and the Clemson Tigers, a NCAA football team that plays in the ACC. The team has a huge local following, and many Keowee Key residents find a day of tailgating and cheering on the Tigers a great way to spend a fall Saturday. If you are not a football fan, you can also head to the campus to catch other sports like basketball, baseball, soccer, golf, tennis, swimming, and volleyball.
See a Historical Site
If you are a history buff, the Oconee Station State Historic Site in nearby Walhalla is a must-see. The site offers guided tours, living history demonstrations, historic buildings, and plenty of Native American and Revolutionary War history.
Explore a State Park
Nearby Oconee State Park is also a great place to spend time outdoors. You can camp or enjoy a picnic. You can fish for trout, bream, catfish, and bass. Fishing boats, pedal boats, canoes, and kayaks are available to rent. There is also a swimming area, playgrounds, a gift shop, hiking trails, geocoaching, and miniature golf.
